There is low confidence of Warning amounts of rain for the ranges of northern Hawkes Bay and the ranges of Gisborne south of Manutuke.
On Saturday, the flow tends northerly ahead of an active front forecast to move across the country from the west during Sunday and Monday. This front is preceded by a warm, moist and strong northerly flow, then is followed by a change to relatively cool southwesterlies.
On Sunday and Monday, there is moderate confidence of rainfall accumulations reaching warning amounts in Fiordland and Westland south of Otira, with low confidence for northern Westland, Buller, northwest Nelson and the Richmond Range. Then on Monday, there is low confidence a Heavy Rain Warning will be required for the Tararua Range, Mount Taranaki, and the ranges of eastern Bay of Plenty and Gisborne.
In addition, during Sunday, there is low confidence of northerly winds reaching severe gale strength in exposed parts of Fiordland, Westland, northern parts of Southland, inland Otago and the Canterbury High Country, then on Monday for Marlborough ,Wellington and southern Wairarapa.
